Antenatal Care

Antenatal Care Course at The Baby Academy

Locations in South Dublin, North Dublin, Cork and Galway

Our signature antenatal care course, also known as a ‘pre-natal course‘ or a ‘parent craft course’, is designed for expectant parents to prepare them their pregnancy journey.

The course is tailored for expectant parents, who are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. Both the mother and partner are encouraged to attend the course. Course fees are for couples only at €175. If your partner is unable to attend, you are more than welcome to come alone or to bring a friend or relative. The course runs over one day from 9.30am-4.30pm.

What do I need to bring?

All you need to bring is yourself and your partner. We will provide you with a comprehensive set of notes, so that when you return home, you have a point of reference for your pregnancy journey.

We will break for tea and coffee in the morning (that’s on us!) and for lunch in the afternoon you can either bring your own lunch or buy it in the hotel.
Please wear comfy clothes!

When should I take antenatal classes?

Most antenatal classes start around 8-10 weeks before your baby is due, when you are around 30-32 weeks pregnant.

We recommend you attend our antenatal class in ideally your second or third trimester. Booking early is advised as there is limited availability and some courses book out months in advance.

Antenatal classes for partners?

Antenatal classes aren’t just for mums-to-be. In fact, bringing your partner along to a class is a great way for them to feel more connected to the pregnancy, especially as they’re not the one physically carrying your little baby.

As well as preparing you for the journey from bump to baby, antenatal classes can help your partner know what to expect. They give your partner a better idea of what is going to happen to you during delivery and of complications that could arise.

This can help them to stay calmer as you give birth, so they are better able to truly be there for you when you need it most. Antenatal classes also give your partner a chance to voice concerns that they may not want to worry you with.
